You just got engaged! Congratulations! You are so excited to start planning wedding planning, but you're so overwhelmed and don't even know where to start. Hopefully these tips can help get the processed started.
1. Set the Budget
Setting the budget is the most important step when planning a wedding. You definitely don't want to start booking vendors and then realize you are going to have to spend more than you thought or you don't have enough for things you really wanted. So... if your parents are paying for the wedding sit down with them and discuss a reasonable budget. If you and your fiance are paying for the wedding then sit down together and agree on a reasonable budget.
2. Decide if you need a Wedding Planner or DOC
I put this as the second thing to do when stating wedding planning because if you decide you want a full- time wedding planner, then they can help you from this point on. They can help you start making decisions with vendors, and even go on venue tours to help you decide what fits you and your fiance best. Even if you want a partial wedding planner, they can also guide you on where to start at this point. If you choose to only have a day of coordinator, its best to book as early as possible, so you know what dates they have available.
Of course if you are a Texas bride I would love to help you plan your wedding day! Book your free consultation today!
3. Book the Venue
Start making appointments to tour different venues. I would advise to go to at least three different venues before making a decision, but I always feel couples know when they find the right venue for them. After you book the venue you will finally have a date to start booking other vendors.
4. Book the Photographer or Videographer
Photographers always have a busy schedule. It is best to book with the photographer you want as soon as you can. Some photoghers also only do a certain amount of weddings per year to make sure they have time to edit pictures. If you decide to get a videographer its always best to do research to find a good one and book with them as soon as you can too.
5. Book the Caterer
Decide on the type of food you would like for your wedding day and a caterer that can do the menu you want. Booking the caterer in the beginning will help you know you have your guest taken care of.
I could go on and on for what to do next....I guess thats why I have started my own wedding planning business. I enjoy helping brides get their wedding day in order. If you would like to know more details about my services for Texas brides please contact me today to set up a free consultation.
